If you’ve got friends and family coming to visit, or even just coming for a festive get together this year, chances are that you’ll want your home to look at its best.

But how much time will you spend getting your home ready for Christmas? Ideal Home recently shared research from kitchen roll brand Regina, which found that 63 per cent of us want to spend a week on pre-Christmas cleaning.

What’s more, 37 per cent of those surveyed said that they felt making their home look spotless was so important that they would spend 10 to 18 days doing all their cleaning chores.

Spokesperson for Regina Judy Reith commented: “While it’s understandable that people want to make a sparkling impression on guests during the festive season – with a clear plan in place, and a positive attitude, the time and energy spent scrubbing and cleaning can be greatly reduced.”

You may also want to consider getting some professional help. Contacting carpet cleaners in Liverpool to take care of the floors could cross one job off your list and give you one less thing to worry about.

But if you thought cleaning was stressful, spare a thought for the people who have decided to do some decorating before Christmas.

DIY Week recently shared research from AA Financial Services, which revealed that 41 per cent of Brits plan to do some decorating before 25th December, spending an average of £949 sprucing their home up for the festive season.

There are even some people who are intending to install a new kitchen or bathroom before the end of the year, the survey found.
